In a statement released Tuesday, NU coach suggested that the team had other disciplinary problems with the two wrestlers.
"The history of behavior of these men, including the current matter, does not reflect the standard of excellence we aspire to on and off the mat," Nebraskla wrestling coach Mark Manning said in a statement last week.

Not only did the coach publically refer to a past history of trouble but its pretty well documented among Nebraska insiders that he had some issues at Nebraska, although I dont remember any specific incident mentioned in particular.

There is also the fact that Jordan originally enrolled in Nebraska and ended up having to transfer to a community college for whatever reason before coming back to nebraska. I'm not going to speculate about whether it was alcohol or grades or what, but usually there is SOME problem when you are attending a good university and have to transfer to JC, and it definitely wasnt about money, since he ended up coming back and is now going to Purdue.

From a more personal perspective, as a dominant force in the local beer pong scene I can tell you that anyone who falls out of a window while playing beer pong likely has some issues with alcohol (as do the dumbfucks that set the beerpong table up next to a window).

If all of that stuff doesnt add up to a guy with a history of trouble I dont know what does... I think you would have to know me personally to really get what I'm saying here, maybe it comes off the wrong way on a message board.

The bottom line is that the kid has a history of trouble, and I totally dont care, I'm just pointing it out. I'm not perfect myself and I've had plenty of problems with school, if I was trying to balance wrestling with everything else I have going on maybe I would end up going JUCO too.
    Gold is an idiot.

Ok, but other than that. what kind of trouble has he been in?...lol.

I don't know if he'll ever wrestle d1 again, i can't imagine many coaches willing to take him on after all this.

regardless of anything, hope this kid is ok. the "falling off the balcony" shit needs to end. when i was a young buck in Daytona on spring break a much older group next door to us was out on their patio, we were on ours and this old dude kept trying to get me to climb across, come over here, climb over he kept coaxing me and i thought, i can just walk around thru doors what does he want to do peel my fingers off the rail? i didn't attempt it, he looked like he could have been the kind of guy to interfere with my progress and cause an "accident". makes me wonder.
but then again, i may be retarded

I truly hope Kenny Jordan is recovering after his fall during spring break. It has been painful to follow these postings after the lost of my youngest son’s high school friend during spring break as well this past March. According to on-line news reports, the Michigan State student fell to his death from an eighth-floor balcony during spring break in Miami Beach. He had been drinking from about 11 a.m. March 12 until he passed out at the bar about 4 a.m. March 13. A short time later, he and a friend returned to the Holiday Inn where they had been staying, and he wandered over to a balcony by himself, police reported. Seconds later, friends told investigators they heard a thump, rushed to the balcony and saw him on a third-story balcony. <O

This Michigan State sophomore was absolutely brilliant, a tremendous high school athlete, and came from a fine, fine family. He had an impeccable record. Even the news reported indicated he was brilliant and outgoing. And, one of his friends at MSU indicated he knew how to separate fun from work. "He knew how to party and have a good time," Weaver said, "but if he had an exam, he wouldn't drink or do anything stupid the night before."<O</O

Brilliant kids with impeccable records fall off balconies too. And, if you totally discount any information you know about Kenny Jordan from Mark Manning, there is little known about him and his past. <O</O

I cannot image many college presidents tolerating the actions of a coach such as Mark Manning!

Opinions differ. Manning seems like a great coach and a good guy, IMO. Let's not use our concern for Jordan's injuries to bash/defend Manning. Start another thread for that.

By the way, Manning was named the Big 12 coach of the year:

With our fair share of issues in college athletics here in Columbus, I often refer to a rather insightful article in our Columbus Dispatch regarding 'when spectators should boo at sporting events.' It said it is never appropriate to boo refs, coaches & athletes at the high school level. Based on compensation, spectators can boo coaches & refs at the college level, but is most inappropirate to ever boo athletes even those on the visiting team. And, of course, at the professional level, one can boo everyone, any time. (For our good friends up north, we should clarify that we are only booing your coach when your team hits the field in Ohio Stadium and only your band director when your band plays Hail to the Victors).

In this case, there is no doubt about it Mark Manning rushed to judged & should have been far more careful in his public comments. He may have violated the law, not these young men. To me the coach has two black eyes for his handling of the matter.

    I boo the coach.

A little off topic? But does anyone know the reason Mike Rowe transferred from NU?
