If I had extra money to send I certainly would as I have supported UNI in the past. But I don't think that money is the right medicine. It will help. There comes a time when a change needs to be made and I was hoping that time had came but it hasnt. I just hope my theory about dropping wrestling doest come true.

Here are a couple of differing opinions from the Eastern Iowa press.
From the CR Gazette's fine wrestling writer and blogger, J.R. Ogden:

And from the Waterloo Courier's Jim Nelson:

In short, Iowans expect a lot from their collegiate wrestling coaches, but tough budgets keep them realistic, and perhaps fearful.

Re: Penrith gets 3-year extension at UNI
The article in the Waterloo Currier by Jim Nelson talks about the "magic wallet". He says that UNI doesnt have enough money to allure the kind of recruits other programs get. He then goes on to talk about how the room it "loaded with talent". Which is it? Can they get the recruits or do they not have enough money to get the recruits. I think they get good recruits but fail to coach them into great college wrestlers.
The comment about the weight room being small is BS. I've used the weight room there and I know the wrestlers use the one I was in because they were always there when I was. It's big and alot of schools would fell lucky to have one like it. Maybe the wrestling team has a smaller one that is their own but the one I used to see them in is nice and big. The wrestling room itself does suck though, but sometimes the old crappy rooms are the best places to learn.

the kids Penrith has recruited from Indiana have been 'head cases' , or at least have that rep. Lawrence is an outstanding talent but he and his coach didn't see eye to eye on anything . Washington sems to have he same attitude problems -they are great athletes but questionable work ethcs .
