    Metcalf does......last year.
    If this wasn't a great match, Owings/Gable wasn't either

Definitely a great match in the sense that both guys were always attacking. I'm not sure what more you could ask for. It was like the exact opposite of the 125 match. At no point did I feel Caldwell was stalling, and obviously Metcalf kept trying. The only thing that was a negative was the lung timeout and the flip celebration/shove-gate, and personally, I didn't think either were a big deal.

There is no question Caldwell dominated. There is no question Metcalf was stymied at ever move 'cept for a few in the 3rd period. What makes this a great bout was Metcalf's reputation to totally anilate his opponents, including Caldwell back in November and more importantly, the anticipation and waiting for Metcalf comeback.

Don't tell me you weren't anticipating Metcalf to take over and ruin Caldwells effort in the 3rd much in the same way Lang turned it around in the semi final a couple of years ago.

To compare this with Lambrecht v Rohn and the cement job in the last 15 secs after being totally dessimmated is ridiculous. What you are saying then, is that the only way this would have been a great bout is if Metcalf did pull it out. Reeks of Hawkeye fan to me.
Life's not the breaths you take, the breathing in and out that gets you through the day ain't what it's all about. It's the moments that take your breath away.

Owings/Gable was a back and forth exciting match.

You are wrong about much of this. I told my brother after caldwell scored on metcalfs shot that it was over. I wasn't anticipating any comeback, i knew that metcalf didn't have the big move arsenal like Lang did to do much about it.

You are wrong about lambrecht v. rohn as well. I liked that match(i really was just scrambling for a match that didn't have an iowa guy in it) I also believe taht I stated that there were plenty of other great matches that werent up to this caliber. It is in no way a reflection of my fan perspective and i think you are lookin waaaay to much into it because i happen to be a hawkeye fan.

I tend to agree with Gold, Zapp, and the last line of Ryou's post from what I've read in here.

Caldwell's nearly perfect execution of a perfect gameplan in another thing that will contribute to making this seen as "great" or memorable.

I also agree with Gold, Zapp, and Ryou. However I totally disagree with Jensens
    Gold is an idiot.

I personally think that Caldwell would beat Metcalf 6 or 7 out of ten times. I think he has the style and skillset to give Metcalf all kinds of problems. I certainly dont think it was a case of him just wrestling the match of his life. His big move ability along with his body type, athleticism, mat skills, scrambling, countering ability, and carefree style would give metcalf problems more often than not.

2 out of 3 Times so far they definitely have. we'll see how things go next year if both of them are back at 149 or not. I think Metcalf has a better chance in a rematch against DC then he does against Burroughs
    Gold is an idiot.

Actually the match I would really love to see is Caldwell vs. Burroughs. I hope Caldwell goes up to 157 so we can see that matchup.
