    Default Metcalf-Caldwell Rivalry Over Already?

According to a reputable poster over on themat with Jersey connections, Darrion will be redshirting next year to try out for football and get bigger. I'm not posting this to try and fabricate some argument that he's running from metcalf, but I must confess i'm disappointed if it's true because I won't get to see a rematch.

I still hold out hope that he and Metcalf move up and DS stays at 157 like he did in the preseason tournies - 4 national champs in one weight.

They've wrestled 3 times. How many rematches are their supposed to be?

Be honest with yourself, and you'll know you didn't really think of it as a rivalry until the NCAA finals. You were probably thinking "Well, Caldwell's got a better shot then Jenkins, but he's still probably gonna get smoked." Now, it's defintely a rivalry, I think. Maybe I'm crazy.

Caldwell said this himself in his media conference after the finals.

Obviously anything's possible, but he said the same thing last spring so I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Last summer he also told the Wolfpacker magazine that he'd be at 165 this year.

    quote from Caldwell:

“It just means I’ve got to continue to work for the next couple of years. I’m thinking about taking this next year off and getting better, a lot better, keep working and maybe go up a couple weight classes. I’m just going to keep working hard for next year, maybe I’ll do something with the US Open this upcoming April. We’ll take it from there and see where it goes, see where it leads.”
