Default Was Jaggers cradling guys all year?

Was he? I think he allowed himself to drop below the radar on purpose, possibly by not using that cradle and then losing matches.

Of the 2008 champs (Metcalf, Escobedo, Leen, Pucillo), he had to seem like the least likely to repeat and the least scouted.

I don't think so, not on high caliber guys at least. He only started turning it on towards the end of the season.

So of those 2008 champs, not only was he the least likely to repeat, he was the only one to repeat. Ain't that some...

I noticed Joe Heskett (the original Mr. Cradle) on the coaches seat. Is he coaching at Ohio State? I thought he couldn't wrestle because of his heart condition.

Yes, his competition days are over but he is the Assistant Coach at Ohio State.

It seemed the announcers talked a lot about weight issues. So he might have been wrestling on an empty tank the first half and just wrestled bad. Then got himself under control towards the end.

Very weird that he has never won the B10's. Just goes to show how tough a conference the B10 is in wrestling.

I wonder if Heskett taught Jaggers the cradle then, or if he's always done that.

The way Jaggers waltzed through the tournament makes you wonder how he could have been seeded only #3.

Jaggers had to cut a LOT of weight--probably a very unhealthy amount. So, at the beginning of the season he dropped 5-6 matches (some of which were to less than elite competition) in a small period of time. Basically he just didn't have enough energy and he would just die in the 3rd period. Due to his record, I was actually surprised he was seeded so high. With that said, it didn't really matter all that much what he was seeded. Recently he has had plenty of energy, and like Jaggers says, when you take away the weight cut and it's just about wrestling, he's very good.

If he had gone in there as a 10 seed, that would have been an incredibly crappy draw for whichever high seed he had to wrestle early on.

Yeah, Jaggers said he had to come down from about 165.
