Perhaps you're right. I will stop--but after listening about how great Metcalf is and how he will never lose again for the last year and a half, I'm thrilled to see this happen.

POint off the team score ? It look to me like Metcalf was still going after the TD, no intent for anything unsportmanslike.

I think that was a bad call. That was a huge situation for Metcalf and Iowa and knowing Metcalf's inensity, he was wrestling and Caldwell cartwheeled as Metcalf was going after him.

Booooooooo Bad call.

Typical Hawkeye behavior, the can dish it out but they can't take it!!!

After all the crotch chopping, throat slashing, and taunting arm waving the we see the Hawkeyes do it is great to see someone celebrating at their expense and it is so enjoyable to watch the reaction of the Hawkeyes and Hawkeye fans. We'll be hearing excuses for this for years to come.

I don't agree with the celebration but if it had to happen I couldn't have picked a more deserving team or wrestler to have it happen to.

Why would NC State lose a team point? He was celebrating. He wasn't taunting.

In fact I give Caldwell a lot for keeping his cool. Watching the replay I think the officials made the correct call on unsportsmanlike vs. flagrant misconduct. Metcalf didn't intend on knocking him out of the air but he was chasing him and jumped right in front of him and Metcalf couldn't/didn't stop. Totally deserving of an unsportsmanlike conduct. Totally bush league. He just lost a lot of fans.

By the way, a flagrant misconduct would have made Iowa lose all points earned in the tournament and there would be no second place finisher.

What a class act by Caldwell! Not! Have some class and win respectively; There is no need for all that. Great lesson to all the kids watching.
But, I wouldn't have called this an upset seeing as Caldwell beat Metcalf before and knew exactly what he wanted to do. He knew he needed to score a lot early!

He did a back handspring backflip while there was time on the clock...he was taunting, Metcalf was looking for a desperation TD. Metcalf got soundly outwrestled, but you're kidding yourself about the celebration.

Time ran out as Metcalf was chasing him across the mat. If you watch the replay the ref blew the whistle and tried to grab Metcalf as he ran by him. Metcalf ran into Caldwell 10' to 15' feet away off the mat.

Lucky he didn't get a flagrant misconduct.

I'm from Michigan. I am/was a fan of Metcalf so I'm not being a hater.

Just watched the replay again. Caldwell was starting the flip as the ref blew the whistle. His hands had not touched the mat to start the handspring. I won't disagree with anyone who thinks it was unnecessary but he did NOT do it during the match.
