If so, I predict a short, miserable match for McD. Simmons is pretty nasty in par terre and don't think McD has done that much freestyle

Re: Mcdonough VS Simmons
Simmons is good on top, but he specializes in brutalizing smaller guys. That doesnt fit McD.

Re: Mcdonough VS Simmons
He pinned 4x world medalist Radoslav Velikov, who often wrestles up at 60 kg. Also rolled around Hazewinkel pretty good. I'm not saying Simmons would win a folkstyle match, but in freestyle I doubt that McD has the par terre experience to survive. If I remember correctly McD made a jr. world team in freestyle, which is a great accomplishment, but even then he struggled with giving up exposure points.

I will defer to your judgement.

Who was it that Simmons just absolutely brutalized a year or two ago? My memory on it is a bit hazy but as I recall, it was an American event, the opponent was a black guy. I believe Simmons locked up some sort of border-line choke/headlock and ran off 6 or 7 exposures in a row. After it was over his poor opponent looked like he had been pulled out of a rolling car wreck.
At any rate, this is what I thought of instantly for this match up, with possibly the same outcome for McD in freestyle. Simmons seems pretty f'n nasty in this style. As for folk, I honestly think it's a tossup.

Re: Mcdonough VS Simmons
McDonough in folk for sure; he is just to solid in all positions; even if Simmons were to ride out McD. McD would score from his feet. Simmons in free he just has too much experience at this point.

If I'm not mistaken, that was Obe Blanc. Pretty sure it happened in the Big 10 vs. Big 12 exhibition match.

About a month before Obe wound up making the world team. With the goofy scoring system in place for that match Simmons basically won the dual for the Big 10 by himself.
