Thread: Is it time for Cornell to push the panic button?

Default Is it time for Cornell to push the panic button?

Nearly all of Cornell's points this year at Nationals came from 4 wrestlers - Perrilli, Dake, Bosak and Simaz. Dake is back, but will be a senior. Bosak - I can't get a clear read on whether he's back next year. Simaz and Perrilli definitely are not. In any case, close to half of their points graduate this year (and maybe 3/4). Only 1/4 coming back (maybe 1/2). A lot of their recruits from the last few years have been disappointing or just haven't found their legs yet.

So what do you think? Time or not? The question is largely tongue-in-cheek, btw. Of course they don't push it, but where do you see Cornell going in the short run?

So I thought I had this great idea...
I figured I would read the press releases on Cornell's page to see if they list Bosak as a junior. Welllll, they list the year of every other wrestler, but mysteriously, they never list a year for Bosak.

It almost sounds like they plan on calling his first year a RS and keeping him for another year, but don't want to admit it publicly. Obviously this is speculation, but it is just plain weird that they list everyone else's year and consistently forget to list his.

Koll has stated that Bosak WILL be returning next year to wrestle.

As far as pushing the panic button - let's not rush things, now. Nevinger is a returning AA, Dake and Bosak returning NCs. They have a year to turn Peppelman, Villalonga, Arujua and such into AA caliber wrestlers. Plus, whoever comes out on top for the starting spot at 125 will certainly be ready for battle. Between guys like Grey, Cisneros, Dixon, and Richardson, there are going to be some wars in the room.
    Am I cool now?

It seems that despite the confusion about Bosak, he's coming back next year. They almost certainly won't score as many points next year as this. But their cupboard is far bare. In addition to their 2 returing NCAA champs, I suspect Villalonga and Peppelman will be improved. Nevinger was an AA. They have some great recruits including Gray and Cisernos. I'm not sure their 174 pounder is coming back after his behavior at the EIWA's. They should be a good team, but not likely to be contending for the title. Top 10 definitely. That's just MHO.

#2 in 2011. #4 in 2012 (not much drop-off in score, though). EIWA became a battle in 2012 because of 174. I think they're in a mild sort of rebuilding, not necessarily reloading.

Cornell has this guy, Rob Koll. Hes kind of a good coach.

He's got the right genes and background, that's for sure.

Theyve got a nice class coming in. Cornell wont be in title contention year in and year out. Koll has said as mich, but i think itll be rare to see them out of top 10.
