That will be impressive as the runner-up.

    170+? No way.

I'm not saying Penn State will score less next year because it will be hard not to. Losing Molinaro and Wade, and Wade for an unproven commodity, is going to cost points. Not only that, but Ruth and Taylor can only score 4 points more than they did this year...combined. To top it off, historically teams just don't score on that level from year to year. Only one team in NCAA history has ever scored over 140 points one year, and then scored MORE the next year: the 1986 Iowa Hawkeyes. Penn State is still the favorite to win the title, of course, but I just don't think they'll be able to duplicate their points in other weights and will lose points at 149.
Jacob Schlottke---Gone too soon, and the world is a little less bright because of it. RIP, brother.

I'm not going to weigh in too much on this discussion. Having 5 in the finals and 6 guys in the top 3 is going to be hard to beat. I'm not saying we can't, but it's a tall order. The fact that Wade and McIntosh didn't contribute much to this year's total helps. But an awful lot of things would have to go right for it to happen. One thing is for sure--next year will be full of surprises. At the beginning of the year, who would have picked C Dardanes to be 4th (he wasn't even the starter!)? Who would have picked Megaludis as 2nd (even after the B1G's)? Who would have picked Tessari to come in 4th? Who would have picked Ness as 2nd? etc etc. There's a lot of young talent out there and that will surely generate some surprises one way or another.

there is alot of talent coming in next year that olympic redshirted this year
a few that come to mind are Theilke,McCauley,Rutt,Graff,Howe,Kilgore

Is Howe going back to Wisconsin?
It would be cool if he came to Minny

Having a total of 4.5 points from 133, 141, 197 and 285 gives a lot of room for improvement. Frank didn't pile up a lot of bonus points this year so there's a good opportunity to not have a big loss at 149. It will be interesting. I believe PSU has a shot of getting more than 143 if things go well for them. But I sure wouldn't guarantee something that's totally beyond my control.

I think that PSU wins it but I don't see anyway that they score more points. It's already been pointed out that Ruth and Taylor can't really score any more points, While Frank didn't rack up the bonus points in the NCAAs he did win the title, I don't see a ton of room for improvement there either, in fact if I had to guess, I'd guess that they'll score less points at that weight. I'd also be surprised if the scored the same amount of points at 125. I think that Mega had a great tournament but I don't see him making the finals next year.

Could not agree more with this. They might gain points from a spot or two but there is just as good a chance that they lose points from others. I would not be surprised if Megaludis and D. Alton did not place as high at next years tourney and Ruth and Taylor have pretty much maxed out their scoring. I think they are a solid favorite for next year but will have a hard time scoring as many points and I would be willing to bet that they don't set the record in two years. You are making a lot of assumptions with that statment KR

Even considering the fact that 165 will be considerably tougher next year with Caldwell and Howe in the mix. I don't see a tech in the finals by Taylor. Will make it more difficult
RIP Jacob Schlottke; KR1963 and rpayton
