I agree with Tom - high seeds getting knocked off can be indicate great depth in a weight just as easily as weaker top wrestlers.

Sadly, I've watched these wrestlers. Of the 12 seeds for the 149 weight class, excluding Molinaro, there were a grand total of two AA finishes between the other 11 seeds coming into the tournament. A 5th place by Parks and a 5th place by Nauman. Three (THREE!) unseeded wrestlers took AA honors. No other weight class had more than one. Three of the top 5 seeds missed AA status all together, and the #4 seed lost his first match before battling back to take 3rd where the highest seed he faced was the # 6.
It was a weak weight. There are no other ways to reasonably look at this.
Jacob Schlottke---Gone too soon, and the world is a little less bright because of it. RIP, brother.
One, two, Evans is coming for you...
I wondered when I first saw this thread over on Hawkeye Report (not going to wade in on that cesspool of anger, bitterness, and group think, so I'll ask it here) this is all absolutely true, but who cares?
Molinaro is the worst 4x All American, 2x Finalist, 1x Champ ever? Is that what the idiot who started this thread originally was trying to get at?

I just found it interesting that's all. I found it over there and didn't think much about it. Other than the PSU folks who are trolling and some of the hawk fans who are a bit angry there is usually some good information. I fall into the disappointed but optimistic category.

I know, I'm not criticizing you. But 86_90 (the guy who started this thread on Hawkeye Report) is one of the angriest and most bitter personalities I've seen on a wrestling message board.
I guess he got tired of ripping on Megaludis for allegedly stalling that he moved back to an old standby.

I saw it posted at Hawkeyenation first by sp groth I think. There are far less toxic personalities at HN.

I think it is someone trying to get at Frank and seems like nothing more than a bitter fan trying to diminish a wrestler's accomplisments. At the end of the day he didn't win the strongest weight as a senior but he is an NCAA champ and 4x AA. He has had a pretty stellar run. I don't think Frank could beat a primed Metcalf but it really doesn't matter. I don't think 2010 Jay Borschel beats 2012 Ed Ruth but that shouldn't diminish what Borschel accomplished.

I didn't think you were. Just saying I thought it was an interesting trivia question. I wonder if we looked at some other wrestlers NCAA tourney histories; what other interesting tidbits we would come up with.
