I don't have info (didn't do the research) for prior to last year, but there is a big jump this year in freshmen AA's compared to 2011.

2011--6 AA's: #2,3,4,6,7,8

2012 (my unofficial count): 13 AA's #1,2,2,3,3,4,4,5,6,6,7,7,8 That makes a total of 7 AA's placing in the top 4!

Pretty impressive freshmen class--with many more losing in R12. Both Nebraska and Edinboro had some great freshmen that almost AA'ed and then you have Iowa's Evans too.

If anyone has older data on freshmen AA's I'd be interested for comparison's sake to this year's group of FR.

And, there were 3 #1-ranked HS'ers that might have wrestled as true FR that took a year off for olympic training, if I understand correctly--Thielke, Dieringer, McCauley. I may not be straight on all of them, maybe one or two took regular RS's. But I think at least McCauley didn't start school in lieu of olympic training camp and maybe the other two as well. I'm sure someone here knows for sure.
