word on the guillotine is that Schlatter to 165 is the most likely scenario. I dont know that Jake is big enough for 165 right now, and Schlatter looks massive compared to his freshman year.

Watch his NCAA finals match on youtube and then watch him vs burroughs this year and you'll see what I mean

Anyone who watched his matches during the Schultz, he looked even bigger there than he did against Burroughs.

If he decides to go 165 he'll fit into the weight just fine.

I do look forward to seeing the Gophers back in contention. This has been a tough year to watch. Let's just say I wouldn't like to be J's dog. They will have to really wrestle like hell AND catch some breaks to make it 13 top 10 finishes in a row for the Gophs.

    Watch out next year though!

With only five guys going and three seeded, they are ALL going to have to wrestle at seed or better to finish in the top ten.

2008 Olympian Jake Deitchler has reconsidered his decision to not attend the University of Minnesota.

Jake's father Jason posted the decision on The Guillotine message board (see message below).

Deitchler finished 12th in the 66 kg./145.5 lb. division at the Olympic Greco-Roman wrestling competition in August.

A 2008 Anoka High School graduate, Jake became the first wrestler in 32 years to make the Olympic team out of high school with a victory at the U.S. Olympic Trials earlier this summer.

    Message Board Post (link):

To the MN Wrestling Community from Jason Deitchler,

I wanted to answer some rumors floating around about Jake’s upcoming changes.

We are very excited to announce that Jake will be moving back to MN and will wrestling for the UofM. We have been working through this decision with him for a couple months now and we are very excited for this next step in his wrestling career.

He has loved the training and the coaching staff at the Olympic Training Center and has appreciated his time out there. He has had some great experiences while training and competing in Russia, Sweden, Turkey, Cuba and China, which have helped him tremendously. But Jake has missed being a part of the MN wrestling community. He is excited to come back to MN and get to work at being the best he can be in the Gopher wrestling room and to work at getting a college degree. We have been talking with the UofM coaches and are working through any eligibility issues. I am pleased to report that everything has progressed very smoothly and we are very excited to have Jake get back here later this spring and to start the UofM in the Fall of 2009. Jake knows he will be starting out at the bottom and nothing will be given to him and for him to succeed he will have to work his butt off to be able to compete with some of the best athletes in the nation.

So with that all said; I wanted to say Jake has really appreciated the OTC Coaches and Staff especially Steve and Momir, for what they have done to help him this past year. And he is very excited to start working with the UofM Coaches and wrestling Team. We definitely agree with Jake, that this is the best move for his wrestling career at this time. Thank you to everyone that has supported him in the past, it is very much appreciated.

We look forward to seeing the Gopher Wrestling team challenge for another National Championship!!!

    Thanks
    Jason Deitchler

How could it be days ago when its copied as 3/18 from the article. I started the first thread ding dong. This was just cut and pasted from The Guillotine. I was just sending a different version of much the same thing.

It is also politically correct when eating crow like they are to say they know he will be starting at the bottom. I will bet you $50.00 that by his second year at the U he is on a full ride scholarship?

I've never heard of Mario Mason. Can someone talk about him a little more and do you think he'll be ranked in the top 10 next year?
