No. He is nasty at them. I use tape of his returns to show the high school wrestlers that i coach what a real mat return looks like.

Dake's returns are textbook. Most guys could hope to hit just one of his kind of returns in a match but Dake is able to do it consistently. The height he gets on them is unbelievable and watching him do it to the shorter guys makes MY head ache. His returns against Molinaro in last years finals and this year against Alton in the scuffle were just brutal. At the "apex" of the return both of those guys had to be up as high as they are tall, if not more. I think he may have something against those stocky PSU guys as he just really seemed to want to physically dominate both of them.

"Horse" is a great descriptor for this kid as being out there with him is probably similar to being locked into a confined stall with an angry horse. A friend of mine was talking with Dake's dad at an area tournament a while back and his dad said that during the summers and in his down-time Kyle will go out in the back yard to whip around and slam a big tractor tire for an hour or two a day. I would imagine that helps polish those return techniques.

As good as Dake is on top, I'd think he'd get more back points. Sure he gets some back points and some pins, but not as many as I would think considering how dominating he is on top.

I agree. Sometimes it seems that (in all positions) he is more interested in beating guys up than scoring points, especially this year.

I'm guessing your avatar-man has a similar philosophy!

Hah, I agree. I think good ol' Magua would have been a pretty bad-ass wrestler!

I thinking the beating guys up philosophy serves him well at the Big Boy Pants Tournament otherwise known as NCAA's.

Dake is a master of control, he controls from top, and always is in great position, he waits for the turns to present themselves more than he really initiates them.
