Thread: Deitchler changing his mind?

    Default Deitchler changing his mind?

I have nothing to substantiate this and admittedly will say that I found it on The Mat but rumor has it that JD is coming back to Minnesota. I for one would welcome him back in a heartbeat and just hope everything works out the best for him.

Some are already saying that the line-up would be Deitchler at 157 and Schlatter at 165 but I would assume that JD might want to take his redshirt year this year. Unless DS really thought he wanted to be at 165, that wouldnt make any sense to me. Oh well, maybe hoops to jump through and nothing is certain but I for one sure like:

    125 Sanders, 133 Ness, 141 Thorn, 149 Mason, 157 Deitchler, 165 Schlatter, 174 Glasser/Young/Yohn, 184 Yohn/Yohn, 197 Geiger, Hwt Disney/Berhow. Thats a tough line-up when you think about where the line-up is currently today.

Who's Mason? Please tell me he's better than that guy they had out there this year. I really can't imagine Deitchler coming to Minn or DS moving up to 165. Say Dustin stays at 157, and Deitchler doesn't happen, what do you think of Glasser at 165 for next year. I was a little disappointed in him this year.

I would think they would redshirt Deitchler anyway just to bring him back out of the "Greco" mode. As far as Mason, go ahead and google him, Mario Mason. There should be enough there to get his pedigree and yes, he is better than what they had there last year far and away.

I also don't see Schlatter going to 165. I think he is a strong NCAA contender depending on how motivated and healthy he comes back next year. Thats alot of ifs but I saw the kid wrestle his freshman year and think that his stuff is still outstanding if he can find his heart and come back healthy.

I was disappointed with Glasser and he is has a VERY bad injury that he is just gutting out or he has plateaued as a wrestler. Not much news ever on Glasser so its hard to tell. Trusty knows more about him than most of us.

Deitchler could be built up to a 65 pounder, too.

Considering that Jake is wrestling at 163 right now it is not a stretch to imagine that DS will be at 57 and Jake will be at 65. I think that it would be smart to get Jake back and competing right away and have hime and Glasser fight it out for the spot at 65. Competition will make them both better.

Assuming this is true, that makes a formidable first six and I believe there are a few wrestlers in the next 3 spots to find the one that will work and make this team a contender.

Remember, Mike Benefiel chose Northwestern over Minnesota and he is currently wrestling at a CC somewhere I think. I wouldn't be surprised to see hime reappear in the big ten and MN was one of his final choices. This would fill a big hole at 74 and make this team take yet another step towards a championship.

Glasser might just as well move up to 174...he has held 165 now for three years. Maybe the move up will help. I didn't know JD was wrestling 163...if that is the case, then it makes more sense for him to go 165. We will see, it may all be speculation at this point.

Deitchler is wrestling 74 kilos right now without cutting weight.

Its not like he's gotten huge or anything, he's walking around basically right on weight.

If he's walking around on weight then maybe he can start lifting since he has about 8 months until he would start collegiate wrestling. He can always cut down after DS leaves. And again, I have no confirmation of this.
