I can't recall a wild card ever winning it. I do recall Rosholt (I believe Jake) of OSU winning it as a freshman when he had had a pre-tourney losing record!

You are thinking of Mark Branch, Rosholt didn't have a losing record his freshman year.

I was over at TheMat.com - The Official Website of USA Wrestling and found it and cut and pasted, my bad.

I highly doubt Spangler wrestles another match-ever . He's had multiple concussions and , personally speaking , as a former coach someone (KJ) needs to reign him in.
You know, I think I would rather be a man than a god . We don't need anyone to believe in us. We just keep going anyhow. It's what we do.

In the original allocations, the ACC had 4 AQ's at 125. One of the guys that qualified the weight was VT's Ty Mitch. He did not compete at ACCs, so that dropped the ACC to 3 AQs, which increased the at-large bids to 5. It all evened out anyway since Spjut (Mitch's replacement) got an at-large.
