    Default D-1 At Large Tournament

Why not? I disagreed with a lot of the "at large" tournament bids. Have it the week before nationals. Let's have an 8 man seeded tournament to select the at large. Earn it.

It would be fun to watch a guy make his way through a bubble bracket and into the tournament. Helluva run.
I wish I could kick Matt Dragon in the balls. In his Dragonballz.

The chance at injury, plus the shortened time for teams to get ready for NCAAs. Those guys report on Tuesday of NCAAs, so that would give them just a few days to prepare for NCAAs, alert academic staff that they would be missing more classes, etc.

I'm not saying I don't like the idea, I actually do, but you asked why not, so there you go.

I guess that would be the hurdle you'd have to go through for not reaching the necessary place. I think it'd be great for wrestling.. from a "good for growth of the sport" standpoint, it'd be a hit.

I really like the idea. It gets every conference's best (close to it) competing together with major benefits to the winners + it's late in the season.. Knowing the traffic & interest Midlands gets (and individual tournaments at the HS level, too) I think having a major event like that at the end of the year would be a huge boost to the interest heading into the NCAA tournament.

I think bluestater's injury argument is valid, but to that point.....i bet the committee would prefer a healthy body in the tournament.

I just think it might provide a better focus on getting the wrestlers with the best chance to place in.

Or the making weight for what, at least three straight days. The All-Americans have to do it, but three or four days in a row takes a toll.

All of Blue's reasons are unfortunately good ones.. although I think a kid that just earned a birth to the NCAAs would not complain about them.

I think the time between would be the biggest issue.. they may have to extend the season by a week.. which wouldn't be all bad, either.

Unlikely to happen, but it'd be pretty sweet.

Is that a good reason to not add more wrestling to the season though?
