Re: D1 committs from Iowa senior wrestling class
It might be hard to argue the amount of D1 commits but I think the class of 08 had more quality guys who made an impact. As to this class I only see a few really making a difference on the D1 level.
Re: D1 committs from Iowa senior wrestling class
That we don't know. I know we have some highly rated high school kids that I would trade for some lower ranked recruits.
Re: D1 committs from Iowa senior wrestling class
Interesting that Iowa has 2 recruits from the State Champs list and 2 from the State Placers list. At first blush, I would think Iowa would have more from list one and less from list two, but that's because I'm kinda thinking of Iowa as the strongest program in the state, so they have an easier time picking their recruits.

I suspect that just reflects which wrestlers chose Iowa, not which wrestlers were getting financial aid from the schools. Just like at PSU we get state place winners that come to PSU even though they aren't getting any financial aid.
Re: D1 committs from Iowa senior wrestling class
The two guys that Iowa got from the top part of that list are probably in the top three overall of recruits from this class. I'd put Meeks at #1. So I think they did a pretty good job, especially since Meyer is an upper weight. Topher Carton and Connor Ryan are both very good in their own right, but I doubt if they are getting much in terms of schollarship. Carton was a 3X state champ (twice in illinois and once in Iowa). He placed second this year. His only two losses came in this season. Connor Ryan is Iowa's first four time runner up. Buf maybe you could help me out but I think three of Ryans finals losses were to Clark, Hathaway and Meeks. Not sure who the other one was.
Re: D1 committs from Iowa senior wrestling class
It was Clark his freshman and sophomore years and Hathaway in junior year and Meeks his senior year.

That's a tough row to hoe. I thought he actually looked really good against Meeks. Pushed the action, but Meeks was just too much and wouldnt be denied his fourth title and undefeated career.
Re: D1 committs from Iowa senior wrestling class
And it would have been tough up or down a weight, although 132 was deeper, it was probably a better shot for him
Bauer, Larson, and Kremer would have been easier to top
Moreno, Hernandez, Lembeck at 145, but that might be getting to big
