If Cael believes itll make them better for NCAAS, then he needs to go with that. Iowa showed great improvement last year, and one cant help but wonder if their skipping of national duals helped them.
That kind of narrow selfishness is exactly why the sport is stagnant. Every coach at the NWCA duals could have offered the same lame excuses that Cael did. They didn't because they understand that their role in promoting the sport is paramount.

I am even rooting for any team to beat PSU at the NCAA's this year. And that even includes Iowa!

Thanks Mr Hand for that brief yet useful glimpse in to US History. But Wikipedia has it wrong as I quote Eric Stratton from Animal House:

I agree, Cael is sinking our sport, one national duals no show at a time.
To avoid criticism say nothing, do nothing, be nothing.

how about if a team is invited to the national duals and refuses to attend, their wrestlers don't get seeded at NCAAs.

I just think Cael likes being in the limelight a bit is all. I don't think he has the proper perspective is all. I have three boys, I would have no hesitancy to send them to Cael to become elite wrestlers, but I DO worry about the sport.

Sure. I can't wait to see #9 seed Ben Jordan facing off with randomly drawn and unseeded David Taylor.

You mean the Ben Jordan who is the only one to defeat Andrew Sorenson this year.

You can't penalize a wrestler for his coaches beliefs in my opinion but if they make this a one weekend tournament next year and get it after the holidays and invite Top 16 we best see Cael and Tommy there. It's a solid format and to me a whole lot more substantial then Midlands or SS.

You are all stupid. Wresting doesn't gather fans because every tournament sticks to the same mold. Make it fun for people other than us and we will expand the sport. Sticking with the same format just brings the same fans. Think outside the box

There were tens of fans in the seats at Rutgers yesterday. I bet at least five of them were new fans. This new format is a hit so far.
