This just made curious so I was reviewing the HS rankings from a few years ago and I stumbled across something interesting:

Neil Erisman wrestled 171 as a senior in HS. That guy is wrestling 157 now, 3 years later!!

You are right -he wrestled 215 in one tournament i saw him in -the one with Marone was at 189 right after he beat wheatley 9-3 -then he took out Marone -I had Marone for a while at hwt and he was 25-12 but kept losing 3-2 3-1 sv matches -only beaten badly once -lost to duzial 4-2 ,lost 4 times to Porter from GW all one point matches -Tucker lane 3-1 sv -he goes about 220 but really wrestles hard worse loss was 9-1 to Monterio-a solid kid -just needs about 15 lbs .

I've known guys who did similar things, but that was back before the current weight rules. ex. Marcus Mollica wrestled 171 as a senior in high school, but won a national title at 158 two years later as a RS freshman. Erisman must have been one of those guys who were good enough not to have to cut any weight in high school.

On the topic of Gardner, I guess I was expecting a little more given the high school hype, but he's not the first guy to have a rough time making the adjustment to the grind of the bigten. As has been written, he was probably cutting too much weight, which certainly didn't help the situation.

Gardner seemed to be cutting too much weight this year. Hopefully he can make the adjustment to heavyweight in the future.
