And really, the only other option that year would have been Rohn, and can you really give someone the OW when he was almost teched?

For the record I'm not in favor of the lifetime achievement OW, I was just pointing out I think it happens as often as not.

At a national tournament that is about as dominant as you get, unless someone else that year had a MUCH tougher bracket or went fall/fall/fall/fall/fall.

Anyone who watched ness's final live would have given him the OW, what a win!

Actually I think I'm going to go watch that again right now

That could make for a good argument.

Any other year he would not have won it.

virginloser, go back and read what was written at the time Cael won the NCAA's that final year. A number mentioned it was a career award as at least two others had a more impressive tournament.

What Cael did was great but it was not the most outstanding performance by a wrestler in the tournament when you take away the drama of going for Four and perfection.

Ness would have been a better choice and Rohn won in dramatic fashion in the final tho the score before the pin would cause some to wonder.

Cael did what was expected and without the Gable comparison heightening things the drama would not have been quite as big.

Resorting to (lame) name calling right away, eh? You could at least be funny if you're going to be rude and incorrect all the time.

Please elaborate on how Jayson Ness (who was a freshman in high school at the time) would have been a better OW choice than Cael Sanderson at NCAA's in Albany. We're all ears.

Posts like this make Vais' assertion that you don't know what you're talking about seem increasingly likely.
