It's B1G's tiebreaker in football:

"If two teams are tied, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative."

As you note, that's for determining who represents the B1G (usually in the Rose Bowl). But if 2 teams end up tied they're still "co-champions".

Title clearly belongs to Minnesota. Not only did they win the head to head, but its not like they lost to a bad team for their one loss, I think Iowa's probably #3 in the conference and possibly #4 overall?

I don't see the logic of not giving weight to head-to-head, that should be the #1 tiebreaker in my opinion.

The logic was mentioned before. Stretching the example-
Both teams are 10-1
One lost to a 10-1 team
One lost to a 5-5 team

Which team is better? Think before you answer...

That's why I say, if you win 'em all, you're #1. If not, you don't have an argument for being the only #1, my team or otherwise.

No, now they have a playoff between the Legends and Leaders champs. If two teams are tied for one of the division leads then they pick the winner of the head to head game as champ.

Lacking a head to head result then you have to go through all sorts of gyrations to figure out who should be champ.
