Why don't they make the basketball team play in REC Hall and let the wrestling team use the Bryce Jordan Center?

I'm from Indiana basketball is big here. My observation starting back in 1978 until now is wrestling is going downhill at the high school level at least in my area. I used to be an asstistant coach for 6 yrs., recently went to dual between the top teams ranked in the area. There was maybe 1000 fans. I think in other parts of the country the high school level has risen in ability level and others it has sharply declined just mho. I base this on more exposure via the internet seeing the top kids in the country.

I kinda like the idea, but to be honest, the BJC is terribly designed for sports. I think it was built more for concerts than watching sports. It is a pretty low slope so the seats get away from the floor pretty quickly. I think the best college sport building I have been in is Cameron Indoor. The bleachers go almost straight up - you can be in the top row and still feel like you are looking almost straight down which makes you feel much closer to the game. Not a bad seat in the building.

As for hoops in Rec hall - the men's team isn't worthy. There are three teams that call Rec Hall home: Women's Volleyball who just ended a 4-year run as NCAA Champs, Men's Volleyball who is currently ranked #5 and won it all in 2008, and wrestling. Not bad.

If I'm not mistaken Penn St doesn't even own the Bryce Jordan Center so its not easy to ge tthe wrestling team in there. Is it common for outside entities to own arena's like that on college campuses?

I can assure you in the Horse and Basketball lands of Kentucky you are lucky to get maybe 10 friends of yours to come to a home meet. It would usually be 10 of my friends and maybe 2 others and that would be the only attendance outside of "required" attendees (parents, girlfriends, etc). The only reason they even came is they knew I would flip out on them if they didn't. So it is surprising for me to see the attendance we pull for our college duals.

Penn State owns that building. The athletic department pay "rent" to the unviersity who operates the building and pays for the staffing of the building.
