That first 5 was something else. They would be very tough-to-beat as a 5 back-to-backs. Did both Steiners win NCAA titles or just the one? It's been quite a while!

As a PSU fan I'd like to tout the Taylor-Ruth-Wright triad. Their potential is huge. But, at this point it's still potential. It's hard to compare what guys "may do" in the future to what has already been done. How many titles did Brands-Brands-Steiner have? I believe Tom had 3 and Terry B had 2 and Steiner had 1 or 2? That makes 6 or 7 titles. The PSU triad so far only has 1. I'm optomistic, but there's a lot of wrestling to go before we can sign off on them.

I'd be interested in an OSU or OU fan to dig back in history and come up with their best triad as they've had some good at least 2-in-a-row, if not 3-in-a row.

    The
    149 Zack Esposito
    157 Johny Hendricks
    165 Tyrone Lewis
    174 Chris Pendleton
    184 Jake Rosholt

    OSU lineup was pretty good.

Lincoln Mac and Joe Williams have to come to mind for me if we are just saying Back to Back. Both were 3 Time Champs, 4 Time AAs, and they both wrestled as True Freshman as well. Quite the Accomplishment and very impressive.

That PSU Triad is pretty swanky. They came in and took a close dual with tOSU and completely blew it open. Against Minny's three there we stand pretty stiff as I'd say Taylor picks up 5.3 on Yohn on average, Ruth 3 on Storley and Wright is neutral on Steinhaus. If you can withstand that trio at -8.3, you have a good shot at an upset.

Next year I like how the Gophers will look at 174 Storley, 184 Steinhaus, 197 Schiller and Heavy Nelson. I don't see another team out there with a better final 4 than that.

    Next year might be:
    149 Andrew Alton
    157 Dylan Alton
    165 Matt Brown
    174 David Taylor
    184 Ed Ruth
    197 Quentin Wright

Quite good! How many NCAA championships out of that group? I believe Hendricks, Pendleton and Rosholt each had 2 titles didn't they? I don't think Esposito or Lewis got a crown. Is that 6 titles total? Quite a killer's row!

Esposito got one, Hendricks and Pendleton 2 and Rosholt 3. 8 total. Tyrone Lewis not winning a title continues to blow my mind.
