I already had some of this discussion with Gold over the weekend & he made some good points that he feels that Hunter is capable of beating anyone in the weight class as he beat Russell (who Alton lost to 3xs) & he beat Marion (ditto 2xs).

While Stieber did beat Russell, he also was pinned in the first by Henderson & 3 weeks ago got majored by Sueflohn, both of whom are true freshmen. The worst Alton was ever beaten was by Kennedy by 4 points. He lost 10 matches by a total of 19 points. So obviously, Alton was not dominated last year by anyone & he did not lose to a single underclassman. All his losses were to ALL-Americans. I'd probably have to take Andrew here. I hope it is a match we get to see next year at 149.

If we ever see Long vs Logan it will obviously have to be with Long at another school. It would have great to see the match up last. Too bad Logan got hurt. If it was last year I would have to go with Long but based upon what I have seen this year I would have to pick Logan.

Short memories here men! Long, 2nd as a freshmen to McD and on the way beat #1 seeded and returning champ Escobedo, and he beat Robles. Last year he beats Thorn, and Sentes, who beat Ramos, before loosing to Hochstrasser and then comes back to beat Graff. Despite his weekness for cougars and alcohol, he's a special wrestler with a heck of a pedigree who's been there, done that. Steiber is still a wannabee! A good looking wanabee, but at this point still a wannabee. Who knows how he's' going to wrestle in the big show when all the chips are on the table. DC

If Stieber hadn't got hurt last year, they wouldn't have met anyway, as Stieber was a 125 pounder last year.

I think both Stiebers win. Logan is just better than Long. Hunter has proven that if he is focused, he can win any ONE match. If the matchups were on the second day of a tournament, I would still pick Hunter, but wouldn't be as confident.

My memory is perfectly vivid with regards to Andrew Long. He was/is excellent, he doesn't back down from anyone, and he was the real one who slayed the giants in that 125 bracket. I have always been thoroughly impressed by him and love watching him wrestle.

However, the way you wrote your post sounded very dismissive of Stieber. You said:

    1) Long "just knew how to win." (As if in contrast to Logan), and
    2) "second match is a tossup." (As if the first one is not a tossup because Long knows how to win and Stieber doesn't)

Long sure seems to be a winner to me.

Gold, all I'm saying is that Logan Stieber hasn't done it on the big stage yet and Long has. DC
