Default Hypothetical Dual: Penn State vs Oklahoma State

Now that Ok St has beaten Iowa who beat Minnesota who beat Penn St who beat Iowa, I would put Oklahoma State #1 & PSU #2 in the dual rankings.

How would you predict a dual between the two?

    Rankings TOM
    125 #7 Megaludis vs #15 Morrison
133 #1 Oliver vs UNR Martelotti
141 #11 Kindig vs UNR Pearsall
    149 #1 Molinaro vs #2 Parks
    157 #6 Alton vs #9 White
    165 #1 Taylor vs #19 Bailey
    174 #1 Ruth vs #4 Perry
184 #3 Wright vs UNR MacNeil

    197 #9 Byers vs #16 McIntosh
    285 #3 Gelogaev vs #6 Wade

    125 Nico dec PSU 3-0
I have not seen Morrison wrestle so I have no way of assessing this one other than common opponents of which there is only one, Colin Fought of NC State. Morrison won 5-3 & Nico won 11-1.

    133 Oliver FALL OSU 6-3

No Vais I am not doing it...

    141 Kindig dec OSU 9-3

The 1st three winners are all PA kids incidentally....

    149 Molinaro dec OSU 9-6

I am sure some of you will call this a toss up or even pick Parks.
    Common Opponents/Results
    Dylan Ness-Molinaro dec 16-10 & MD 9-1; Parks dec 6-5
    Scott Sakaguchi-Molinaro dec 4-0; Parks dec 3-2
    Mike Kelly-Molinaro dec 11-5; Parks dec 8-3

    157 Alton dec tie 9-9
I am sure some of you will call this a toss up or even pick White.
    Common Opponents/Results
    Anthony Jones-Alton dec 1-0; White lost 3-6
    Dominic Prezzia-Alton MD 16-4; White dec 2-1
    Nick Moore-Alton dec 5-3; White dec 7-4

    165 Taylor TF PSU 15-9

    174 Ruth dec PSU 18-9

I am sure some of you will call this a toss up or even pick Perry.
    Common Opponents/Results
    Ethen Lofthouse-Ruth MD 10-1; Perry dec 3-2

184 Wright MD (at least) PSU 22-9 (would clinch the dual)

    197 Byers dec PSU 22-12
I am sure some of you will call this a toss up or even pick McIntosh.
    Common Opponents/Results
Sonny Yohn-McIntosh lost 3-4; Byers lost dec 2-3

    285 Gelogaev dec PSU 22-15
    Common Opponents/Results
    Tony Nelson-Gelogaev MD 16-5; Wade lost 0-5

What do you vote the biggest toss-up match?

VAIS--You're picks come out to 19-18 OSU

My picks are the same as yours except I pick Molinaro over Parks. That comes out to 21-16 PSU.

Well as an Oklahoma State fan I'll stretch the results so we win

    125- Nico WBD 0-3
    133- JO WBF 6-3
    141- Kindig WMD 10-3
    149- Molinaro WBD 10-6
    157- DA WBD 10-9
    165- DT WTF 10-14
    174- Perry WBD 13-14
    184- QW WMD 13-18
    197- Rosholt WBD 16-18
    285- Z WMD 20-18

Toss ups would be 125, 149, 157, 174, and 197. I would favor OSU in 197 but Penn State in all the other ones. But to see a situation where we would win I have Perry pulling the upset.

How about PSU attend National Duals and maybe we can see this dual happen like I think we want.

I don't think point differentials between common opponents does much good. Parks in particular and White and Perry to lesser degrees are notoriously defensive. Parks never wins by a lot, but he has just won and now beat Intermat's 3 and 4 wrestlers. He has been wrestling well, he just isn't a guy who will wow you with his scores, which is unfortunate because it certainly seems like he could be.

White just got a very good win that rankings wise would make him vs Alton very much a tossup. He had a disappointing Reno Tournament, but since then he has won all of his matches, including avenging one that he took out there. Being able to wrestle a full season has certainly put him on an upward trajectory.

Perry has been doing well with his weight cut so far. However, I think the jury is still out on how effective he will be at 174, particularly against Ruth.

When guys have never gone head to head, not even in Freestyle or high school, (at least nothing I could find) it is the only measuring stick you got.
