Thread: Brands looking for greatness

I'm not a Hawkeye fan, and have proven on here that I will call it as I see it. In the first year of Brands' coaching, yes, some of those things may have been true.

However, since then, I think that he has come light years in how he presents himself and carries himself as a representative of the Iowa team. I personally have the world of respect for him in how he carries himself. In my opinion, and unless I am missing something, he's been nothing but class all year.

Now, and ironically enough, I think that the very claims that gopherphan is making could be much more appropriately directed somewhere closer to home.

I've seen no loss of control from Tom Brands that is remotely close to what Goferphan is hinting at. Yeah, Brands is intense. But this is wrestling, and intensity is a good thing, not a bad one.

I like animated coaches. I like coaches who encourage their wrestlers. I find nothing wrong in Tom Brands' matside behavior.

I'm kinda wondering if goferphan ever watched Marty Morgan (or Mack Reiter) matside. You know what they say about glass houses.

Sure, I wish that the Iowa staff would occasionally show a little more class - but let's not pretend that this doesn't happen elsewhere.

You'll notice that Goferphan is MIA in this thread now that he is being called out on his statements.

I am here...I just think there are plenty of times he and his staff have done it...there are photos everywhere of threads everywhere with them on it...tell me he never does it and I will go get you an example...ask me to come up with some examples and I tell you to go search on your own...this weekend at NCAA's with OSU fans is an example...wow, that was hard going back an entire five days.

Man! Why didn't I think of that!? I'll just RESEARCH it!? I'll just google Tom Brands' inappropriate behavior, or maybe youtube something to that affect, and I'm sure I'll come across a wealth of evidence/information to help me educate myself.

Don't you think I'd rather look it up and figure it out for myself before asking this insanely biased group of people? (yes) Not everyone has been privy to every performance the hawks have been to(or any as is the case with me) I'm just wanting to know what exactly happens, and whether there is any firsthand knowledge of inappropriate behavior. I have heard varied conflicting stories about the "up yours" reference during the pucillo/keddy match, but nothing concrete. Then all of a sudden people talk as if this is common occurence, I consequently ask for examples of what exactly is going on, and you people clam up and give me nothing.

I've also been wondering what exactly happened with Brands and the OSU fans. I haven't heard an exact description of exactly what he did. And everyone I talked to who was there said they weren't looking that way when it happened. I think it's strange that there were so many people there, and it's generated all this discussion, but nobody has said exactly what he did.

What i want to know is, was he on the grassy knoll when he gave this gesture? And do we have any grainy video footage?

There have been alot of alleged bad behavior by Brands but no one ever gives any hard concrete evidence that anything ever happened. But all of a sudden it turns into fact. I guess I'll just chalk it up to the fact that Iowa is back on top and when people, especially gopher fans, get jealous they turn to attacking the lead dog. Then when they get called out on it they either don't respond or tell you to look it up yourself. Goferphan's credibility is on a nose dive with me.

You guys don't think gofer is baiting you a little. Come on now, get with the program. 75% of the time Gopher is a realist. The other 25% he is antagonizing someone (usually LoSt). Not that the points you are making Herkey#1 and vaisforlovers aren't valid.
