Michigan has a nice team and has given the Gophs problems in the past.

And, Zeerip is ranked higher at present. I would think a Minny fan would be interested in seeing how Dardanes does against Russell. After all , a true frosh beat Russell this year. I know I was eager to see how Megaludis did against McD--see how big the gap is.

I like Michigan's team as well and they DO seem to give us match-up problems every year. That being said, it sure feels good to kick their ass from time to time in SOMETHING. You know how sick I am of getting my ass kicked by your football team? $%&@#$!

All I see is Russell allowing Dardanes to shoot and then counter-wrestling the hell out of him and frustrating him with his ungodly scrambling ability. Taking that guy down is like trying to "pen" a greased pig.

That's all too true! Still, H Stieber was able to do it. So there's always hope!

I don't expect Minn to have too much trouble, but some interesting match-ups:

    133 C Dardenes vs Stevens
    141 N Dardenes vs Russell (Russell shouldn't have a problem, but. . .)
    149 Ness vs Grajales
    165 Yohn vs Yates
    174 Storley vs Zeerip
Hwt Nelson vs Apland (not all that good, but I threw it in anyway)

It is worth asking whether or not the Gophers would be caught looking ahead to Iowa as they take on Michigan. In my opinion, I don't see that happening because J will use something (maybe Iowa's rough weekend was attributed to overlooking tOSU) to shine the light on what looking ahead can do. Also, I believe the early season schedule can only help on a weekend such as this. This weekend is not the first tough weekend for MN this season so I think being in the thick of it won't have as much of an effect. But, to your point, it will be interesting to see how a relatively young team comes out with a rival looming next on the schedule.

I predict MN will win at 25, 33, 65, 74, 84, 97, and HWT which, if I am right, is going to be enough to beat MICH and I predict this team will be prepared. 49 is a toss up but 41 I can't give to Dardanes right now and I'd like to think Ortiz will hold his own at 57 but I will give that one to MICH as well.

Not to mention Minny controls it's destiny to win regular season conference championship if they win against Michigan even if Iowa wins bc we have the tiebreaker with Penn State since we beat them. That being said I'm sure J Rob is selling the undefeated regular season conference championship.

Finally watched the match last night. Michigan should have won the dual except for the idiocy of Justin Zeerip. How can a RS Senior, 4 time undefeated state champion, previously ranked 5th who dominated the match give it all away in a matter of seconds. For those of you who didn't see the match Zeerip took down Storley solidly for the second time midway through the 3rd period for a 4-1 lead with riding time. Then he proceeds to get reversed 4-3, then he escapes 5-3. With 4 seconds left there is a fresh start. At the whistle, Storley dives in on an ankle pick and takes Zeerip down cleanly in about 2 seconds 5-5. I did dumb stuff like that in high school, but this was ridiculous. Then he gives up a takedown in SV and loses the match and loses the entire match for Michigan. Without that win by Storley Michigan wins the dual by 1 point. Unbelievable!

Then you can point at Huntley med def as well? I think we didnt anticipate losing 165 or else there is no way J Rob starts Lange who got pinned. I think we win that dual 8 out of 10 times. Storley just has a way of never stopping, you can't always coach it but good things happen when you keep putting forth effort for 7 minutes. Other than a few guys this weekend, the Gophers have been giving 7 minutes from top to bottom. FWIW I think Michigan did too this weekend. Storley has given Spangler, Brown, Heflin, Zeerip and Lofthouse the same effort so you better get a sizable lead on him or give him 7 full minutes or he's going to get you.
