If I recall correctly I don't think Medgaludis was taken down for a few years in high school.

After watching Meg it doesn't surprise me he doesn't get taken down much. He was really defensive against McD and seemed content trying to tie his hands and elbow up. He is able to keep it close with better kids because from what I have seen he doesn't attemp to many legit shots.
Perelli took Megaludis down quite a few times at the Southern Scuffle. Mega has definitely given up more than 5 takedowns this season, maybe that's just a dual meet statistic.
That explains my surprise. I got that from the program from Sunday's match and, yes, that is a dual meet stat. But he didn't get the 28 takedowns by not wrestling. One of his five losses was a DQ where he was shutting out his opponent iirc. So whatever takedowns Perelli got would be added to the three. That's it for the year. So somewhere around 50 takedowns for and 7 against (Sanders, McD and Perelli).
He lost 20 to 10 to Sanders people.
Go Hawkeyes.
