That was the best outcome Sanders could have hoped for. He was never close to scoring offensively. I like Waters' chances to convert one of those shots next time, which might cause Sanders to take bottom, which of course changes everything. Hats off to Sanders on that ride, he did everything he needed to do.

Sanders was just as close to scoring on his low ankle pick attempt as Waters was on his shots.

Sanders has teched Joe Roth and majored Trent Sprenkle and Ladd Rupp this season so it was odd to see such a low scoring match, but I loved the Dake imitation (nobody gets out).

I think Dake is more of a submission ride and Sanders was more of a bull ride, handing on for dear life. It was gutsy. I saw little in the way of either wrestler having an upper hand on their feet, very evenly matched.

Agreed. He has never really been given credit for his punishing rideouts. I would love to see those two kids go at it in St Louis. I'm sure Waters will be working really hard the next two months to gear up his game from the bottom position.

I think that's exactly my point, I think Waters did everything he could to get out, he threw everything but the kitchen sink at him.

I'll go the other route and say Waters screwed up the final minute. I think Waters would have gotten the reversal in the last minute, but panicked due to time and went for the escape instead.
