Martellotti should finish in the top 6 or 7 in the B1G Tourney, so I'd assume that would be right near the cut line for whether or not he gets a bid for NCAA's. I don't think he will make much noise at NCAA's this year.

As for the team predictions, I think we've found out what we already knew. Iowa, PSU and Ok St are probably the top tournament teams. I'd say at this point that Minnesota is in pretty good shape for 4th, and either Ohio St, Missouri or Wyoming could make a run at 5th.

Here's how I break down Penn St's individual chances:

    125: Megaludis: R12
133: Martellotti: Qualifier, might win one or two
    141: No Qualifier
    149: Molinaro: Top 3
    157: Alton: Low-Mid AA
    165: Taylor: NCAA Champ
174: Ruth: Top 2 ( I think he'll beat Amuch, but Amuch is the favorite until someone beats him)
184: Wright: Champ-R12 This is a combination of Wright's inconsistency and the fact that 184 is absolutely loaded. Most likely finish for Wright is at least top 3.
197: McIntosh: Showed yesterday he is not ready to take on the very top wrestlers at his weight. He will probably finish a low AA 6-8.
285: Wade: Can see him finishing anywhere from 5th to losing in r-12.

Would love to see some predictions for the other top teams...

One thing to consider though is that it is only early January, and we are only through Midlands. A lot can change. Honestly, who would have thought Iowa would have finished as strong as they did last year after placing 4th in Midlands last year. Things can and will change.
You're absolutely right dback. But this is for fun. Also it's so far removed that whatever we say now will be forgotten come tournament time. But, if we get it right, we can also resurrect our post!! : )

I agree with you on Martelloti. You may be right about Megaludis. Where he is now, he wouldn't place. But he's a tremendously hard worker and I have some optimism that he'll be a significantly improved wrestler by March. Time will tell. He may not. But then again. . .

I just wished Quentin wrestled like that in dual meets (especially dual meets against Iowa and Minnesota!!!)

MN will qualify all 10 with Zilverburg at 157.

Herkey seems a little slow, so I'll make his for him. I know him well enough: 10 NCAA champs for Iowa! Next question.
