Thread: Oliver, Dake, Simaz & Taylor... who has the best year?

Who won last year Robles? I forgot? If so he didn't have the most pins. If he didn't he was still the most dominant in my opinion but he was a very unique wrestler with very unique skill sets.

    Burroughs won the Hodge.

And had they held to the criteria of undefeated guy with the most falls the award would have gone to Oliver.

I can disagree with Burroughs. I still think he could have gone up and won 174.

It became obvious last year that they can weight criteria pretty much any way they want to. The award can actually be a bit of a lifetime achievement award if the committee deems it important.

I think Taylor will have the most dominant year. He's going to be on an absolute mission after what happened in the finals last year.
Is Burroughs the first US wrestler to win an NCAA title and world championship in the same year (we can throw in winning the Hodge as well)?

John Smith did this his Junior year in college. Won an Olympic Gold his Senior year also. I don't think he was a Hodge winner though.

Well, DT just took out a top 10 ranked guy as easily as he would have taken out a 7th grader . Dake will lose 3-4 x this year .Oliver looks more like he did his freshman year than he did his sophomore year and Making weight 3x at Nationals may cause him some problems . NO ONE expected Futrell to hand with Oliver. Had simaz not been injured he and DT would have been the top 2.

Jensen is correct. I thought the Hodge would go to either Oliver because he had the most pins or Burroughs because of his performance at NCAA's. Burroughs just dominated everyone at NCAA's which sealed the deal I think. I think McD has a chance to have the most pins and win another title along with the Hodge this year. It isn't out of the question for McD to pin 3 or 4 matches at NCAA's this yr. If he does that I think he wins the Hodge for sure. Oliver and Taylor will be in the hunt most likely but I think Oliver has a better chance than Taylor. Oliver was pretty impressive last yr and I think he does the same this yr.
