When Dan Gable was coaching many felt that for a number of years he could beat any wrestler on the teams his wrestled. Can't say the same for John Smith as he would have had trouble with the heavier weights. (personal opinion is that John Smith is the greatest wrestler the US has ever had - and Robin Reed pretty close to him)

Bruce Baumgardner could do it.
Mark Schultz could do it.
Cael can do it.

I don't see anyone else in the current crop who I think can do it though some are pretty close. I am looking at head coaches but feel free to add in an assistant or two if you want.

Who else out there coaching do you think would have been able to beat everyone on a team?

I seriously doubt that, if he weren't so gimpy then MAYBE (I too consider Smith far and away the greatest US wrestler ever). Jamill Kelly was asked about wrestling Smith while training for the 2004 Olympics and he beat him pretty soundly, not because Smith wasn't still just as skilled if not more so but because he couldn't with his injury effectively shoot, so Kelly had the only real offense in their match. Maybe Smith intimidated Rosholt and taught him some lessons in the practice room, but he would get dwarfed by him in a match.

Rob Koll also would not qualify. He's still very formidable but has admitted he wasn't at the level (or youthful enough) to beat guys in his own room such as Lewnes and Bosak by the end of their careers (let alone Simaz who is much bigger). Cael and Kerry McCoy definitely qualify if we're just talking head coaches. Kevin Jackson might be another, though he's older than Cael so I'm not sure whether he'd still beat a big heavy like Rey.

Marty Morgan could beat everybody in the room including the stellar hvys.
