CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State wrestling team will officially open its 2011-12 season Nov. 12 and 13 when the Beavers participate in the Best of the West Tournament on the campus of Southern Oregon.
With the start of the season less than two weeks away, let's take a look at the team's lower weight classes: 125, 133, 141, 149 and 157.
The Beavers are buoyed by the return of four NCAA participants from a year at these weight classes: Jason Lara, Garrett Drucker, Mike Mangrum and Scott Sakaguchi. They'll also get the return of RJ Pena to the lineup, who, two years ago, competed at the NCAA Championships. He redshirted last season and will now compete at 157 pounds after going at 149 as a true freshman.
We caught up with assistant coach Kevin Roberts to assess the team at its lower weight class. Check the video below to learn more.
