Okie State has beaten Iowa 9 in a row including last year when they definitely weren't supposed to. Iowa should win again this year, but the way the teams match up look relatively interesting especially if Falck is still out. 125: #16 Obe Blanc v. #5 Charlie Falck/UR JJ Krutsinger 133: #15 Chris Notte v. #5 Daniel Dennis 141: #18 Jamal Parks v. #1 Alex Tsirtsis 149: UR Luke Silver v. #1 Brent Metcalf 157: #11 Neil Erisman v. UR Matt Ballweg 165: #11 Brandon Mason v. #3 Ryan Morningstar 174: UR Newly McSpadden v. #4 Jay Borschel 184: UR Jared Shelton v. #3 Phil Keddy 197: #9 Clayton Foster v. #20 Chad Beatty 285: #1 Jared Rosholt v. #12 Dan Erekson With no Falck in the line up I have it 20-12 Iowa, however there are a lot of bouts here that can go the other way. If Falck wrestles I think he beats Obe although Obe has won their only match in the past, Parks has a shot at Tsirtsis, and Mason has a shot at Morningstar. Then to be fair Iowa has shots at both 197 and 285. This match up could range anywhere from an Iowa blow out, to a 10th straight win by Oklahoma State. Should be a fun dual Last edited by Schlottke; 01-16-2009 at 01:28 PM. |

JensenS, A 100 years ago when I was coaching a wrestler could only move up one weight from his certification-McSpadden was a 57 lber a month ago -how can you move up 2 classes like that -plus he beat a few decent people at the Va Duals . |

You can move up as high as you want so long as you meet the minimum weight. Chad Beatty was certed as a 174 last year and wrestled at the Kauffman Brand Open there but wound up wrestling 197 during the dual season all while weighing 180 or so. |

At the va duals , McSpadden stuck Rubertus from Navy and lost to Miller CMU-7-5-I don't think he'll get majored . Also ,Mason is so tough with those legs that IF he can get a takedown on Mstar he can win .

Miller tends to slow down matches from the couple of times I've seen him wrestle.

payton-You can only move down one weight (based on weigh-in weight, not based on what you wrestle at) over the course of the season. For instance, McSpadden is no longer eligible to go 157 for the rest of the season (assuming he weighed in at 174 for the Virginia Duals), but he can go 165 if he decides to. However, there is no maximum ceiling.

I consider this a very down year for OSU, and I expected this to be a blow out before looking at the matchups, but it's surprising how well OSU matches up with Iowa. That said, I still think the final score will be a blowout, but in terms of individual matches, most of them should be pretty close. OSU could pull off the upset, but I sure wouldn't bet on it... |
