Default Question regarding hotels in Iowa City/Coralville area...

Any recommendations? (I'm looking for the two nights surrounding the Iowa/Oklahoma State dual) I don't plan on renting a car, so preferably someplace relatively close to Carver-Hawkeye.

I'm not from there but I would look at hotels in the coralville strip area. That's HWY 6 or 2nd St in Coralville. Or, on 1st Ave in Iowa City there is a Super 8, a Motel 6 and a place called the Big Ten Inn. All of those places are just a short cab ride to Carver.

Corallville Strip is about as close as your going to get to Carver. The Marriot is relatively new but is a couple of miles from Carver. It doesn't matter no hotel really within walking distance to Carver.

I've stayed at all of these places and all are equally nice for the money. I'm maybe a bit more partial to the first one listed, as they have a nice secret, hideaway bar in the basement that gets the job done real nicely.

How about the Heartland Inn? Anybody have any experiences with there?

I haven't stayed there, but it is very comparable to the ones that I listed in the link. Seems to be clean, well kept, and a bit closer to Carver Hawkeye, downtown, and the other amenities in that area.

If you aren't going to rent a car then maybe in the downtown area might be good. Then you can just catch the bus or take a walk across the river and up the hill towards the medical school towards Carver.

I dunno about the Coralville Strip. It's a pretty long strip. The Comfort Inn is pretty far down it near the mall and would be an almost impossible walk. There are a couple noname motels on the eastside of the strip that are pretty close to Carver but I think distance wise it's not that much different then walking from downtown.

The bonus of being downtown is that if you go out afterwards you won't have a long walk back to your motel.

Yeah that's the one I was talking about. That's the closest to Carver from the Coralville side but it's a no name motel. Tripadvisor might have some reviews on that motel. Maybe a 15 minute walk to Carver.
