I just checked on a police BAC notebook (online)-a 180 lb. male has to consume 8 beers an hour to blow a .15 .

1-2 will get you a public intox
3+ will get you a DUI

Your situational irony definition is slightly off. It should read more like "when actions result in the opposite of what you expected". David Taylor getting pinned was not ironic in any way. If David Taylor purposely tried to get himself put into a cradle so that he could counter, but then he got into a cradle and was pinned - that would be situational irony.

Your definition reads as if "I rooted for the Steelers to win the Super Bowl and then they didn't. Ironic." That's not ironic.

I think this is a slightly better definition: The essential feature of irony is the indirect presentation of a contradiction between an action or expression and the context in which it occurs. (from dictionary.com)

Point taken, I also wanted to put David Taylor in there regardless of definition. But in perhaps a cosmic irony way (the weakest form of irony) you could consider an unbeaten wrestler hailed by some as the next 4 time state champion getting pinned in the NCAA finals by a wrestler who used to go to the school he is now wrestling for ironic.

So 3+ beers gets a 180lbs man a DUI? That is ridiculous! I only weigh between 145-150 and 3 beers is not getting me drunk, but like I said, I will get a DUI. I didn't know that 180lber would also test higher than .08. Does everyone see the stupidity in this? I assume most men are at least 180lbs and most know that they are not drunk after 3 beers. It's out of hand. Nothing more than a money grab by bankrupt cities.

They want simple solutions so they enforce the law harder, I get it, just don't think it's making a huge difference.

    Q,
while NOT DRUNK or even .08 you WILL blow numbers and THAT is all it takes in Indiana to get a public intox..you can google POLICE BAC Calculator and get your individually sized readings BUT remember this is far from an exact science..
a 180 lb. male blows .02 after 3 drinks -if you use basic math you'd think you could drink 10-12 beers before blowing numbers but at 5-6 you are above .08-which is a moot point in indiana as any # will get you a PI.

The chart I saw was the number of drinks required on an empty stomach, which makes a big difference. I remember that chart for at 200 lbs was 5 beers in one hour on an empty stomach, although that might have been to reach .10. I don't know about you, but three beers in one hour I am definitely light headed and impaired and if I were to drink 5 in one hour I would barely be standing.
