Travis Paulson has been named the new assistant coach for the Cyclones and Jon Reader is the new volunteer assistant.

Not suprising at all. Nice to see him on the payroll.

Nicely done by KJ getting Paulson to come back and keeping Reader in house.

Good move by KJ to keep Reader.

However, I don't like the move as much for Jon. I think at the OTC or NLWC he could become the countries future at 84 kg once Cael is gone. I don't see him getting pushed well enough at ISU.

Jon wants to give back to the school that helped him win his title, instead of bending them over and shoving it right up the stinkhole.

So every student who wins a national title is "shoving it up their stinkhole" if they don't join the staff of that school the next year?

    Interesting.

I don't think trying to win World/Olympic titles necessarily shoves anything anywhere, but that's just me.

Who said that? Did I say that?

If he were to leave ISU and go to the NLWC he would be piling on without the courtesy of a reach around. It's specific to the situation. Has nothing to do with any other teams.

You're in the business of making changes of location a lot nastier than they need to be.

As I said he could also go to OTC, don't think that would be unkind.

Not really. Just saying that another defect to Happy Valley would be another huge kick in the balls to Iowa State. Jon has always said he is happy there and wasn't going to leave. It's not like KJ has no experience with international competition. You can win Olympic and World titles while training in Ames. I don't know for sure, but I would be willing to bet that they have more world level medalists than any other school not named Iowa or Oklahoma State. Maybe they have more. I'm not sure. I know there's a pretty impressive list of Olympic champions hanging from the rafters at Hilton.

I and the rest of the state would have no problem with him going to the OTC to train, but to leave for the NLWC would be seen as turning his back on ISU.
