Default Replace the singlet? New ideas for Unis?

There is an interesting discussion going on over on The MAT but I thought that I would just post a few of the visuals over here to see the feedback. Posters are talking about:

    1) Improved health & skin issues
    2) New look to revamp the sport
    3) New high tech fabrics with additional features

Don't like it. It's fine for practice but the shorts look too loose. Too easy to jam a finger or grab ahold of. I wouldnt mind it if the shorts were tight like a singlet.

Years back when wrestling in High School we had two piece singlets. Also many wore the full length tights. Carried over into college as well. This was during the days of 9 minute matches and 3AA's per weight.

I have seen this brought up before. I have no issues with doublets, but shorts don't work in pure wrestling as they do in MMA. Our shots and such are different and I see way too many potential cases of shorts getting snagged, pulled, broken fingers, etc.

What GSP has on is fine, but the other stuff should be used for PRACTICE only.

For the record, when I was in college we wore doublets with overlying shorts (like Gable if you saw him wrestle) and matches were 7 minutes and I believe there were 8 placers (6 at least).

Yea I like what GSP had. The bottoms need to be form fitting for sure.

I wonder how much you would have the shirt riding up during mat wrestling. I'm not completely opposed to the idea but I don't see anything terribly wrong with the singlet either.

Yeah I don't mind the singlet either.
