Thread: Badgers recruits "all in."

  1. #1

    Default Badgers recruits "all in."

Finally some good news for Badgers fans.

Jesse Thielke posted on the Wisconsin Wrestling forums last night and reaffirmed both he and McCauley's dedication to Wisconsin.

    Devin Peterson did the same.

    ALL IN

With all the questions and rumors flying around Madison and it's fans right now, things seem to look pretty bleak. So I am here to assure everyone that NO ONE, not a single recruit, is leaving Badger Country. All of us recruits know that it takes more than a single coach to have a championship team; team has no "i" in it to begin with. What I am trying to get at is, we are ALL IN; completely invested into the program and each other, just as all of you fans out there are as well. We believe we can accomplish greats things together not only as a team, but furthermore as an embodiment of Wisconsin wrestling. We believe we can make this state proud, all the while achieving our wildest dreams. So I ask you Badger fans to continue to be ALL IN with us; believe, support, and take a deep breath, because we aren't going anywhere anytime soon. The future is very bright my friends, and I look forward to it more and more everyday. All that's left to say is?GO BADGERS! Thanks for your time.

    Jesse Thielke

InterMat - Peterson to stay in-state and wrestle for Wisconsin

Devin Peterson also alluded to the fact that Donny P would very much like to return to Wisconsin in a couple years, presumably to take over for Barry when he is eventually ready to hang 'em up.

Couple that with the Issac Jordan and Ryan Taylor commitments for next year, and the likelihood that Bo Jordan, the top recruit in the class of '13 will end up a Badgers(which many close to him have already speculated) and it looks like the Badgers are not only in good shape, but recruiting wise, are in better shape than before this entire coaching situation transpired.

I'm glad for Wisconsin's sake that the recruits are staying. It would be depressing for a fan to watch things fall apart so quickly. However, they lost a lot more than a single coach. They lost all three assistants. Barry did some great damage control to keep the recruits on board here.

Well said Gold! I know Jeff and Jim both went to Wisconsin, but I wish they would try harder to keep their wrestlers in Ohio.

    Shut up.

LOL...I have absolutely no personal knowledge of that situation or anything regarding Wisconsin right now, but I keep hearing that the Badgers are going to announce a big commitment from that class shortly, and it's been speculated that it will be Bo Jordan.

So...who knows, but it's sounding good.

Anyway, who is the third assistant? I'm missing one. Donny P, who I was pretty shocked to see Devin say that HE expect to be back in Wisconsin in a few years, and Fryer. Who's the third?

Kyle Ruschell. He was a volunteer coach and left the program for a full-time assistant position at Army a few months ago. So it didn't seem to be related to whatever chased Pritzlaff and Frayer off, but even so, 3 out of the 4 coaches (the other one being Barry) that were on staff when these recruits committed are no longer there.

No, Ruschell is one of the paid assistants at Wisconsin now.

Barry will be able to land more than capable assistants. He's lucky to have had Donny P as long as he's had him. Frayer is a good addition as well with this top wrestling prowess, but I'm sure Barry will be able to replace him just fine as well.

Easy to say now. They have a whole year to watch and judge what's going on at Wisconsin, and Wisconsin is likely to have a down year, and who knows what assistants are coming in. I hope they do whatever makes them happiest, though.

You seem awfully convinced they're leaving. You've referenced it a couple times.

They were always likely to have a down season with the possibility of Howe, Rutt and Graff not wrestling next year. I don't think they're going to be caught off guard.

And I'm guessing they also realize that getting those guys back, another good recruiting class and then obviously themselves and they'll be just fine and can still compete for a NC.
