Wow. I'm somewhat surprised he got it over the long list of very qualified applicants, but I think it could be a great hire.

I always admired Kish for the way he toughed it out through injuries. I hope he does well!

Maybe he got the job because other guys wanted more pay?

Maybe he just blew them away. I don't know. Anything you can share, Trusty?

    Great to hear for Kish.

He's been out there for a few years so they must have liked the work he's done so far to go with the in-house hire.

The in-house hire assured the current staff would stay on board. I'm sure Kish will do fine and it must be very exciting for a young guy like him to land a great job like NDSU. Just think they missed the boat on Steiner.

Kish had maximum balls. His senior year was heartwrenching to watch he was so badly injured....but he just kept going. Good for him! Congrats, Roger Kish!!

Congrats to Roger. I hope he does well, but I am with Trusty and think Steiner would have been better choice at this stage.

I think they went with a guy they already knew understood how inhospitable the North Dakota weather is. A guy they already knew was familiar with the program and was not Bucky's kid - a sure disaster for the program.

Who in their right mind wants to come to a town that floods every few years, sees 30 below zero and 50mph winds during he winter and is not near the center of anything in the civilized world? Indian reservations, flat and windy and cold in the winter and flat and windy and hot in the summer. Bakersfield East.

Since he has already been through a few winters they must have figured he would stick around rather than coach a couple and run for warmer opportunities.

Now, will he get good assistants in the room? We know what has happened the past few years has been stagnation and complacency. They have not looked like Wyoming or even Utah Valley. Beat a few depleted teams but when crunch time came around - they were crunched quickly.

How many top NCAA wrestlers have come from North Dakota???

Course, before Cael we were saying that about Utah, weren't we? Maybe there is hope. Recruiting and development in the room will tell the tale.

Good luck. The program has only one way to go and that is up.
