Byers NOT going to Iowa?
I just read on a Hawkeye chat site that the "RUMOR" is that Byers is not going to Iowa. Has anyone heard anything about that?

Re: Byers NOT going to Iowa?
Its being reported over on "the mat" too, but no legit sources, just people saying it is happening. Does it really matter if it is true or not, talking to my Hawkeye friends it seams the cupboards are far from bare.

Re: Byers NOT going to Iowa?
If Byers doesn't go to Iowa, who do the Hawkeyes have in their "cupboards" to replace Luke Lofthouse? Are you thinking of Gambrall moving up--or other there other solid 197 pounders waiting their chance?

The only one that I am aware of is Brodie Ambrose. He didn't compete last year, but did well the year before.

Stove Pipe was one of the people mentioning it, given that I'm willing to bet that it's true even if not official.

Word is that Gramball, Evans, and Lufthouse will duke it out at, 197, 184, and 174, not what one would call a weak trio.

Lofthouse and Evans have no shot at being competitive at 197. Ethen makes 163 in the Summer, and Mike will be an average sized 74. Grant was not especially large at 84, and I think he gets manhandled at 97. I don't think his counter style works at 97. Let's remember, that while Grant had a phenomenal tournament last year, he still took his lumps and had quite a few rough points last year.
I don't think the move up for any of them at 197 would be successful barring significant growth from somebody.
I think that trio looks best at 165,174, 184. Not, 74,84 and 97.
If Iowa can get 9 really tough starters, maybe they can get away with having a hole at 97.
PSU had a few holes last year and were able to win.

VAIS, do you know anything about Brodie Ambrose?

Re: Byers NOT going to Iowa?
The only thing I know is he's real big, didn't wrestle last year, and is a long shot to ever make 97 again. He would make a sold, but not spectacular starter.
