Byers not coming is sure a blow to Iowa this coming year. Iowa seems to be stronger in terms of many potential NCAA placers than they are with having a lot of champs/finalists. They will need to have almost all of their potential placers becoming AA's. I wonder if this puts more pressure on St John to stay at 157? I see Jensen has him ranked at that weight (acknowledging that he might still move up). He is certainly a better shot at NCAA champ at 157. Even if Dake doesn't take an olympic red-shirt, I heard that he might end up going to 165 next year. Does anyone know anything about that?
I think Iowa has plenty of guys that are champ/finalist material. Specifically McDonough, Ramos, Marion and St. John. Don't jump all over me about Ramos. I don't think he'll beat Oliver but he'a already beat Long and really should have beat Graff. He's proven that he's got what it takes to contend for a title at 133. His experience from last season will pay off for him in a big way this year, imho.
Maybe Thomas Lira pulls a Jesse Whitmer. (fingers crossed)

kent state? they have a pretty good one. Unless you're insinuating Killer is taking a redshirt which would be the first id heard.
Go Hawkeyes.
Pretty sure Wisconsin had a very good backup at 197, kid was wrestling like a top15 guy when filling in for Brandvold.
