If he's the guy that I remember from the Iowa videos on Flo, he's a little rotund.

If Byers doesn't go to Iowa as originally thought, that could be huge for NCAA's. Iowa will have a deep, talent-laden team, but the question is do they have enough big scorers for the NCAA's? Byers was easily a top 4, maybe even #1 talent. Iowa will always be in the mix, but with Byers they are a much bigger threat at the NCAA's. I think dual meets they are fine without him.

Easily top four? He hasn't even placed yet. Hawk's will be just fine, with or without him.

If the rumor is true then that hurts Iowa at 197#. The cupboard is bare at 197@. Ambrose had his chances. I agree with vaisforlovers.

You may be thinking of Rick Loera as he was in a lot of those videos.

Byers is definitely top tier talent. He beat Killer last year, and should have beaten Simaz in the Scuffle finals. All this while wrestling at George Mason. It's not conceivable that he could be top 4?

Without Byers you will see 1. Brodie Ambrose(Iowa's best option here) provide he can still make 197 2. Thomas Lira who will need to beef up. 3. Long shot that Gambrall moves up. 4. Vinnie Wagner is out of the picture he has been accepted to Med School and will most likely not wrestle his senior year.

He not only beat Killer, but won easily 9-4. Does anyone know what the rumor-mill is saying--is he thinking of going somewhere else, or is it the he wouldn't be going anywhere?

Not a rumor. He will not be in Iowa City this year. I do not know what his plans are.

Weve been waiting for Ambrose to step in and make 197 for years. I'm not holding my breath that he can make the cut. Sometimes, if you're too big, you're just too big. Hopefully he can make it. He is a good wrestler and like Wiltz said, our best option. I don't like the idea of Gambrall moving up. I felt he was a little undersized at 184 last season. Does Beatty have anymore years left?
