The 2011 NJCAA National Champions have added 6 new recruits to help defend their National Championship. The Cougars had a banner year in 2010-11 and are looking to reload with a new crop of talented young preps. ?The task for us is to find a way to stay on top and we believe that these guys have all the tools to help us continue to achieve both athletically and academically here at Clackamas,? said 5th year Coach Josh Rhoden.

If the Cougar mat men have plans of a repeat performance then these guys will help to lead the charge:

125- Chris Lazo, Centralia High School in Centralia, WA.
Chris was a 2 time Washing state place winner and finished 2nd this year for his high school team in Centralia. He is very athletic and strong and will add some depth to the 125 lb weight class.

133- Shane Yacuta, Porterville High School in Porterville, CA
Shane was a 2 time California state place winner finishing 4th and 2nd as a junior and senior. Shane won the prestigious 5 Counties Invite and finished 2nd at the Doc Buchanan. He is very explosive, strong and hard-nosed. He will add depth at 133 and possibly challenge at the 141 lb weight class.

141- AJ Ballard, Canby High School in Canby, OR
AJ was a 4 time Oregon State place winner and 2x Reno World of Wrestling Champion! Like Noon, he won by bonus point victory in each of his matches in Reno this spring. AJ was also won the Reser's Tournament of Champions. AJ has great skills and has proven shown his ability to win at the big time level. He like many of his fellow signees wrestles throughout the year. He will be right in the mix for the Cougars next season.

149- Eric Luna, Cleveland High School in Portland, OR
Eric was a 3 time Oregon State Champion for Cleveland High School. Following a transfer from North Idaho College, Luna joins the Cougar squad after red shirting last year at Clackamas. We are very happy to have Eric here at Clackamas and he will be an immediate impact guy for us at the 149 lb weight class.

165- Eric Hensel, Lakeville South High School in Lakeville, MN.
Eric is a wrestling junkie! He spends tons of time on the mat and has earned All-American honors in Fargo the last two years. He is looking to win the Greco title this year at Junior Nationals. In the state of Minnesota he placed 4th and entered the state tournament with an incredible 32-0 record. Eric also topped out his national ranking at 13 in numerous national rankings.

174- Trent Noon, Oakdale High School in Knights Ferry, CA
Trent was a 2 time California state place winner and won the Reno World of Wrestling tournament in April with all of his wins being bonus point victories, including a fall in the finals! Trent fills an immediate whole for Clackamas with the loss of All-American Tarrence Williams. Trent brings a wealth of wrestling experience and an intense want to succeed that will be valuable to us next year.

Really glad that Ballard and Luna stuck around the NW and decided to wrestle at the next level. I think that they both have a lot of potential to make a name for themselves. Ballard won a lot of big matches and then beat some really tough kids in route to losing a 2-1 OT decision in the state finals.
