Kent State's best guys run into good guys from tOSU. I could see them winning 5 matches or getting shut out. I'd say a best bet is 2-3 wins for Kent State.

agreed. hvy is the only weight where I would definitively favor Kent state. Should be a good dual though

the first 3 weights are toss ups -Tice has an outside chance at 57 and if Kilgore and Porter win ? Is Rella 100% ? I know nothing of Estep but I'll bet he goes right at Rella's shoulder . Chine and Gardener will be closer than people think
I'll calll 2 upsets now-. Bedylon and Mitcheff .

    125 & 133 look very interesting.

I could see Kent winning both.

125 Triggas MDEC (4-0) Triggas could also lose this, but I think he will get back points...
133 Humphrey DEC (7-0) Not much to say here...
141 Jaggers MDEC (11-0) I wouldnt be surprised in a Lashaway win; it all depends on if Jaggers has adapted to the weight yet
149 Palmer FALL (17-0) Lance will completely outmuscle him.
157 Johnstone DEC (20-0) I don't know anything about Tice
165 Spons TECH (25-0) He should either tech or tech-pin the guy...
174 Estep DEC (25-3) You never know what Rella will do, but I'm not betting on his shoulder
184 Pucillo DEC (28-3) Match of the night.
    197 Gardner DEC (31-3) Tossup
285 Porter DEC (31-6) Morrison could surprise here; he has not lost (except a default) and has wrestled some good competition

The kid behind Tice -Mallie Shuster - beat Coughlin like a drum in the CSU open -I know that doesn't mean anything but he's hung tough with some good kids -lost to Hall-Boise State -7-4
@ 165 Simpson wrestled a coupla years for NS State before transferring to KSU and placed 3rd in the ACC
@ 197 Chine won over 30 matches at 84 last year and beat some good kids
@ 49 the kid moved up from 41 and beat Spons little brother out -I wish I could see the match as it's mostly good quality Ohio kids .

    Gold,

i have to chuckle a little bit because you give 125 and 141 to tOSU by major decisions but also say that you could lose them?

if you are handing out majors you better be damn well certain your boy is going to at least win.

I didn't do that on accident. Triggas can dominate the crap out of someone if he gets into a rhythm on top (even good ones--Mark McKnight twice last year) and that's what I'm predicting to happen, but then he goes and loses to guys who he really shouldn't have a problem with. What I'm saying is he's not consistent, but I'm thinking if he has a normal day (which he seems to most of the time), he will major his decent opponent; if he doesn't show up, he could lose.

With regards to Jaggers--he is still the defending champ, but he has not been himself this year. I blame this on his tough cut to 141. So I think if he has adapted to the weight cut (and he has had almost a month without matches to do so), he could definitely major Lashaway. But if he is still struggling with his weight, Lashaway is a tough dude and could win the match.

So I guess I disagree that "if you are handing out majors you better be damn well certain your boy is going to at least win." Besides, you can never be "certain" that anyone is going to win...
