Default Cael moving on IF - he wins another Olympic Gold

Seems the University of Florida may have a rich benefactor who will fully fund a program and endowment to get Cael Sandeson at the school as head Coach if he wins another Olympic Gold Medal.

The money is Basketball coach money and the whole program would be a go if he continues with his US Team and goes to - and wins- the Olympics again.

Sounds nice, if it is true. But what would Penn State do?

Also, even if such an offer is real, why would Cael take it?

Maybe he would, I don't know, but it doesn't seem like it would be a better home for him than PSU.

    Why this is b-llshit:

    1) The school in question would not be allowed to compete at the NCAA tourney for seven years (as was the case with Utah State). Cael is not going to take over a program that can't compete at the end of the season.

    2) What would winning another gold have to do with anything? Does this wealthy benefactor only want him if there's two gold medals but unwilling to hire him with just one and an NCAA team title to his credit?

While I agree that this is total bullshit, #2 is invalid o your part. Obviously a Gold Medal in 2012 would vastly increase visibility ofa program and for the university, and therefore bring more publicity wise to the table. Winning in '04 is out of the mind of the general public long ago.

I think #1 is invalid as well. Utah Valley had to sit out because they were just entering the NCAA. I don't believe any new programs at NCAA institutions have to sit out. There has been no word that Maryville will have to sit out next year and they would be the closest example.

Although I don't think this is in anyway true, I would totally be behind Cael starting a program at a big time university in the south.

That donor in Florida is loco if he thinks Cael would take over his program.

He should go after Cyler or something if he wants a Sanderson.

I don't know if he is so crazy. Cael has already shown that he has no loyalties and will go where the money is.

I love this hahaha Herkey you crack me up

I think this is a pipe dream for wrestling, think about how cool it would be if Clemson and Florida added wrestling programs in the next 5 years, no better athletes in any conference right now. Could be some amazing wrestling come out of those two areas. I also think you have to look at it, Cael left for PSU knowing Long was coming, knowing Taylor was coming, knowing he was going in and getting all the guys that were already there and that he could recruit from the hotbed of college wrestling products coming out of highschool and straight into PSU's program. IF Cael was to ever leave PSU now anyone could say anything they ever wanted about him and I'd be fine with it after he left ISU, I can see why he left and obviously it was best for him, but if now he left PSU, it'd be no question that he's got no loyalties within the sport what so ever.

I guess the real question is whether Cael will work into condition and wrestle aat 184 or the next weight up?

He has to do that before he can even consider an offer like this.
