I think 1997 sweeps from 125-165. I thinks Askren and Herbert would win. The last 2 are toss ups. Although I still give the edge to the 1997 guys.

Crazy that 10 schools won 10 titles last year compared to 5 in 1997. I think thats a good thing.

Just wanted to make a few additional comments.

As much as I think these are sure fire bets....maybe they're not.

Whitmer was a 6 seed. Maybe Donahoe slows him down and beats him like he beat Nickerson and Haze?

Maybe Valenti rides better than Mena. I tell you what. No one could get out against Valenti at the NCAA tourney.

Derek Moore's turns on top...probably not....but he did tech in the finals.

149...if Schlatter won for the 2nd time...is it still an easy choice?

157...this is an easy one

165.....May be tough to take down Williams, but he did beat Troy Letters and Johnny Hendricks on top of their games.

Not to quibble too much, but you've got Ironside and Kolat backwards, Ironside was at 34, and Kolat was at 42.

Personally I think 07 does sweep 74-heavy. Looking at the lighter guys I would say that if you put Valenti wrestling like he did at the past two National tournaments against Guerrero it'd be REAL interesting. Valenti just absolutely never got tired, and we'd have to see if he could wear out Guerrero like he did a bunch of other people.

I'm really resisting the temptation to ramble here. I would find Williams vs Perry verrrry interesting if you compare them at the same time in their careers. Joe would, of course, hit at least 1 freight train double, but Joe could be ridden - not necessarily turned - but ridden. He also didn't care to ride guys. Hmmmmm.

Yeah, I agree at least at those two weights. Ironside wouldn't make the mistakes Lang did and would wear out Moore, Kolat v. Gillespie would be fun, two high scoring exciting guys that gas out a lot. Kolat was a beast though, so he should probably win.
