If you guys can't understand why ISU fans woul hate Cael and/or just feel betrayed regarding the situation, I'm not sure what to tell you. And I think the emnity between Iowa fans and Cael springs from the fact that 1) he's been the direct rival of ISU for years, and 2) when he left, he did kind of insult Iowa hs wrestling. However, there is also obviously something to the notion that Iowa fans don't like Cael stealing some spotlight from their team and also the fact that he looks like he'll be a consistent legitimate threat for national titles.

If you think the situations are even close to similar then you didnt pay much attention when either coaching change happened. But I'll assume you knew that and, in your style, are just fishing for arguments.

I can see your points here & have thought the same.

However where the illogical part kicks in is the "insult" to Iowa HS wrestling. Stats are stats. If you look at the production of PA & surrounding states of producing NCAA AA it is simply higher. As far as I can see he is being berated for stating the facts. Sorry but that just reflects an uneducated viewpoint.

Big 12 schools for years have come east to get wrestlers to fill their rosters. But I think that this is now a double standard that many Iowans apply to Cael. Of course when it comes to being partisan often rational goes out the window.

As an aside, if you want to argue AAs produced PER CAPITA then I would bet that Iowa would be in the top 3 if not number one. And think anyone with half a brain back east would acknowledge that FACT.

I would love to hear what Bubba said happened. I don't take Bubba for the kind of guy that will beat around the bush about it and make it seem any less disrespectful and harsh than the images and story that I have made up in my head for the way it happened, but then again I made it up so it may be completely opposite from what I think. Either way, I would love to read it as soon as you get it finished so please post it kr. Thanks.

Right and he was getting them to come to Iowa State, so why leave? He could've won there but instead he took what he considered the EASY way and left. Why is the "easy" way better? If you can do it at a school that gave you so much and was loyal to you for a decade, why kick em in the nuts when you couldve won there with guys from the East?

The "easy" way factors in more than just location. He has better facilities, less distance to travel to recruit, ability to get better in-state workout partners (because Iowa gets most of the best 2nd tier IA kids), a better paycheck, and probably other things I'm missing.

Why did Tom Brands leave VaTech when he could have won there? Because Iowa provides all of these things, too, making it 'easier' on the coach.

Tom Brands left VT because it was already known that if his Alma Matters job came open he would be gone. It was not the other way around. Brands felt that he still had things to give back to the University of Iowa where the University was so good to him, his brother, and his family. The enormous difference is that Brands wanted to give back, not take away and rip the throat out of an institution. Oh, and the fact that he didnt force Bartas hand when Zalesky was there either, so when a job came open, he left with the intent of coming back. Again, I just dont see any correlation here at all, but maybe in Iowa we just arent rational or intelligent enough as KR says. Of course, being partisan, often times "rationale" goes out the window.
