Nick Gwiazdowski (No. 3 @ 215) Pins Way to Second State Title

Home ? Nick Gwiazdowski (No. 3 @ 215) Pins Way to Second State Title

01 Mar New York Wrestling | Comments

Duanesburg senior Nick Gwiazdowski (No. 3 @ 215) won a state title Saturday at Times Union Center the same way he defeated every other wrestler he faced this season ? by pin.
In the small-school 215-pound title match, Gwiazdowski pinned Cole Tristam of Clifton-Fine in 1:49, capping his 50-0 season and earning him his second state title.
Gwiazdowski pinned every wrestler he faced this season, 43 in all. His other victories came by forfeit.
?I knew I was the favorite to dominate a lot of the competition,? said Gwiazdowski, who is headed to Binghamton next year. ?I figured, why not pin everyone? You can?t get more dominant than that.?

The 215 finals at FLO was the best match-between #1 Tank Knowles and #3 NickG-Nick was a heavy underdog yet beat Knowles despite a few questionable calls and only having 58 seconds RT at match end .

Yeah I remember that was an exciting match. Today I think that Gwiazdowski would beat him pretty soundly, but Knowles has a bright future too should he decide to wrestle in college.

Knowles (at 5'6'') would have to go 197-he is built like a tree stump but NickG just outwrestled him-he was excellent at creating spaces and changing angles-a well coached kid . And , although he is projected as a 197 lber I can see Nick G growing into HWT. Coach POP is building a GREAT program at Binghamton and should have several #1 seeds come CAA's. 125-along with hofstra and ODU,149,157,165,174,184,197...

Like to see how he would fare against Camp.

Camp is overrated IMO and would be manhandled by those two.

I agree with r.payton, Binghamton seems to be a team on the rise, I live about 15 minutes minutes from campus and am excited to watch this team next year!
