Notre Dame - I think wrestling suffers from the major players not being schools with national appeal, Notre Dame is one of those.
Kansas and K State - strengthen the Big XII wrestling, Kansas high school wrestling has been improving it seems, this would be a huge boost.
Oregon - West Coast wrestling is incredibly vulnerable.
Washington - Same.
5 universities that can afford to come back representing 5 regions
University of Texas
University of Florida
Syracuse University
UCLA
Notre Dame
1. My alma mater, of course. I don't think it's feasible, however, due to the Title IX albatross combined with the athletic department being at the 14-sport minimum for Division I athletics. Cutting baseball and soccer (and adding men's tennis) is likely what it would take by that yardstick, and cutting the two flagship non-revenue sports at the university would make my career as an Athletic Director there numbered, in terms of seconds.
2. Florida Atlantic, which is basically around the corner from my house.
3/4/5. Fresno State/Nebraska-Omaha/Oregon. Anything to make Mr.'s Boeh, Alberts, and Kilkenny look stupid.
See his name, Pita...
Florida State University the state Florida needs college wrestling and it would be great for ACC
Grips--I think you're right that Dave Schultz started at UCLA, although he got his fame at Oklahoma. Someone else may verify that for suree at .
Brothers, Dave did go to UCLA, but just for a year, and he was redshirting at that. He had left OK St. where he started out as a freshman AA (3rd, 1 loss to Churella). Transferred to UCLA where Brother Mark was starting as a freshman. The program was cancelled at the end of that year, leaving a potential top 5 NCAA team ( Pat O Donnell, Jackson & Harlan Kistler, the Schultzs,-Future AA's all) to all transfer to various schools. Damn shame there too!
As far as teams to bring back/start- UCLA & San Jose St. Univ. of Miami, Syracuse, Morgan St., Notre Dame, Fresno, and Washington or Washington St.
